It takes a village...

Birth Lounge is proud to have created Birth Fest from 2006 - 2011, a volunteer-run festival that was truly created by the community. Unlike corporate-style baby fairs, Birth Fest has been a truly local event, created by members of the Birth Lounge, Britannia Community Centre, and a host of partners in the community who have contributed time and resources to help bring this magical day to life.

Collaboration

When we first envisioned Birth Fest, we recognized Britannia Community Centre as an ideal location. Truly the hub of the Commercial Drive neighborhood, Britannia has graciously donated the use of Gym D and helped us obtain both tables and chairs for the event since 2006.

Special gratitude to some of our partners from over the years:

Jim Meyer

A Chapman Stick artist, Jim Meyer has contributed his melodic soothing music perfect for the Birth Fest vibe for all five years! www.jimmeyer.ca

Sandra Vander Schaaf Photography

A founding member of Birth Lounge, Sandra brought her skilled photography, playful energy, and strong community spirit to the creation of Birth Fest. www.theartofseeing.ca

momcafe Vancouver & North Shore

We are grateful to (momcafé Vancouver & North Shore) for their generous support of our vendors, and the opportunity for all families visiting Birth Fest to win free tickets to momcafé events.

Volunteers

We have relied on volunteer hours for both setup & takedown of Birth Fest as well as support on the day of the event. Many local parents and birth and family support professionals have donated their time to supporting Birth Fest. Thank you all for efforts!
