The Green Mama, LLC grows greener families and businesses through research-based support for those trying to create healthier, sustainable lives. A woman owned and operated business, The Green Mama was founded in 2007 by Manda Aufochs Gillespie. Previously, Ms. Aufochs Gillespie had worked in the sustainability field for more than 10 years as a community planner, project manner, consultant, and writer.

After getting pregnant with her first child, she realized that being an "expert" in the macro fields of planning and project management did not translate into expertise in green living: particularly when it came to children. She began to apply her training in research and systems thinking to the mundane questions of life: cloth versus disposable, organic or local, CFLs despite the mercury?

Ms. Aufochs Gillespie has worked with thousands of parents and some of North America’s finest green businesses. She shares the products of her research through the popular Green Mama blog; classes; corporate, daycare/school, and home consulting; and through guest appearances in the national press. The Green Mama has been described as “the green guru” and “serious, but not absolute” bringing practical and trusted solutions without judgment.

Today, Ms. Aufochs Gillespie is joined by a small team of women trained in aspects of green living from chemical sensitivities to small business development who bring their various talents to thousands of parents through the web, radio, TV, and in person.
