Birth Lounge was born...
from our desire to create a community of care for expectant and new families. Gathered within the Birth Lounge collective are some of the best services and products our community has to offer to support you through pregnancy, birth and new parenthood. We have found that our clients thrive within a broader web of support with trusted professionals.
Founded in 2006, we have been proud to be the hosts of the annual Birth Fest: Celebrating Bellies, Birth & Babies in collaboration with Britannia Community Centre. Over the past five years, Birth Fest has grown into a truly community-centred event, with live music, over 50 local nonprofits and businesses, and almost one thousand happy people in attendance.
After five fabulous years of Birth Fest celebrations, the women of Birth Lounge have decided to take a break for 2012. We all treasure the experience of having created and nurtured Birth Fest into such a successful celebration of all our community has to offer. This year, however, our colourful banners, swanky red velvet curtains, nurture nook, and the birth ball we gracefullly balance in a basketball hoop will remain in storage.
We want to thank all of you for your contributions to the success of Birth Fest over the years, and we'll miss sharing in the fun with you in 2012.
Instead, we will be seeking creative ways to collaborate both within the Birth Lounge team, and with other local businesses in the community. Have a creative idea you'd like to bring to us? Please contact one of our members.
